You are going to photograph me with what??!!

So, if you have read this far, you are probably wondering why the heck I titled this post the way I did.  Well, here is the story, it might help you to know first that sometimes I think I am hillarious but really I am not.  Since John and Carol booked me from Chicago for the Florida Keys and we had never met, as I was driving up to the resort, I started thinking of ways I could break the ice and what came to my mind next will explain the title.

I walk up and introduce myself and we start to move on to searching for lighting and location.  After I have them all set up, I set down my bag and bring out my digital camera, (yes, my point and shoot).  I step back and start zooming in and out, working hard to get the shot.  Out of the corner of my eye I catch John and Carol, obviously shocked, and questioning what the heck they had gotten themselves into.  To make matters even worse, I looked down and saw Carol’s point and shoot and said, ” actually, yours looks a little better than mine, mind if I use it instead?)
At this point, I couldn’t hold back the laughter any longer and just started busting up out loud!  Carol and John are such good sports that they started laughing too.  I knew at this point we were going to have a great and fun relationship.  These guys were a pleasure for me to photograph as you can see from their engagement session.

Back from the Keys

I am home from John and Carol’s wedding in the Keys at the amazing Hawks Cay Resort.  It was such a beautiful event and I feel so lucky that they let me be a part of their very special day.  John and Carol are from Chicago and were hoping for a change in weather for their wedding and they got it.  There were rumors of rain but the sun came out and it was a very beautiful and warm 74 degrees out.  Something about the sunshine sure lifts your spirit.  I sometimes think I was born in the wrong state, Oregon only having a few sunny months per year.  I could really get used to that sunny, warm weather and not to mention that teal water.

On the day I was headed back to Oregon I woke up at 3:30 am our time to catch the sunrise.  It was amazing to feel the warm sun beating down on my face that early in the morning and witnessing such a beautiful sight.

Here is one of the shots I captured, hope you enjoy it and please, if you are in a rainy state like me, feel free to use it a screensaver, it might just get you through till spring :)

I am off to the Florida Keys

I will be shooting a wedding this weekend in the Florida Keys at Hawk’s Cay Resort.  If you need me, I should be available by email.  Cannot wait to see the sun again!!!
